I think Taiwan is starting to get to me. It’s been a year and a half and last weekend, during Easter I had a serious “I want to get out of here” moment. But to what? Bad economy, wasted savings, spend it all on travel, wander the planet forever? I obviously have a lot of security issues in my life. Blah Blah Blah. That’s all I got today. Need to find new inspiration. Fast.
Hi there! I’ve become seriously interested going to Taiwan to teach english for this coming year and somehow stumbled over your blog here while googling for as much info as I could find. I’ve enjoyed reading it! You’ve dispensed a wealth of information that you just don’t find on generic esl sites. I especially appeciated the rational detailing of your experience with Hess. I’m considering them for a start, because I really need a stable assurance of a job before I leave the States. I don’t expect them to be “great”, I’m not looking for a cakewalk and I know all the schools tend to have a downside, but I just needed to have assurance that they would be “standable”. I’ll probably be keeping with the idea that I can find a better school after a year anyway. The reason I’m writing though! I wanted to ask about city differences. I’m right now between chosing Kaohsiung and Taichung. I am mainly worried about the pollution. Is it that much worse in Kaohsiung? I remember you writing that you had visited Taichung. Would you overall recommend one city over the other? Any help you might be able to give would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks! And I hope you’ve found a bit of that needed inspiration again!
